The Cosmic Wheel of Kindness…Pass It On!

Hey, wanna join the Banana Gang?  Have some fun… take the pledge, wear the t-shirt, and pass on a token of kindnessToken of Kindness”!  Be part of spreading the joy of generosity & kindness!  Kids love passing on the Tokens of Kindness.
The Banana Gang began about 12 years ago when DaMunk (the MunkyMan) began making public appearances.   DaMunk simply asked folks big and small to join the Banana Gang.  There are currently over 1400 members!
This idea began as a unique way for people to reach out and connect with others.  In recognition of random acts of kindness, a “token” is passed on to someone as they perform a kind act.  This sets the “cosmic wheel of kindness” into motion, as tokens are passed on endlessly!  Whenever someone performs an act of kindness hand them a token.
As you pass on a “token of kindness” to someone who has performed a simple kind act, the recipient feels good and so does the donor.  This state of well-being keeps spreading as you feel the benefits within and then with family and community.
Obviously, you do not need a “token of kindness” in order to spread generosity.  Whenever I carry a “token” with me it’s like a wee reminder of how I wish to be in the world.  I’m not talking of huge, heroic deeds, rather, for me, it’s a subtle attitudinal state where I have a choice to smile, say thank you, ask how someone else is doing and really take the time to listen. What a gift!

Ellen - Positive Communication @ 5:45 am:

Hi Cathy,

I love the positivity your site is offering, thank you for that!

This really is a nice concept, this Act of Kindness token to promote those simple, but so very important gestures!
It really left me wondering though, if it is something that would resonate well in our culture (I'm from the Netherlands). I'm not sure yet, but it really is something worth contemplating…

Maybe something interesting to you: Blogcatalog is organising a community Bloggers Unite Action day on December 17th, promoting the Act of Kindness with all bloggers participating (http://www.blogcatalog.com/group/bloggers-unite/discuss/entry/acts-of-kindness-press-release)

best wishes to you,

Ellen
